About
Founded on 20 years of legal practice and scientific reasoning.
Rebecca Webb
I spent over 20 years as a child abuse lawyer — working in UK family courts where the accuracy of evidence, the integrity of sources, and the structure of an argument were never abstract principles. They were the difference between protecting a child and failing one. Qualified as both a barrister and solicitor, I conducted hearings as an in-house advocate — building and testing cases in environments where being wrong had serious consequences.

I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science and a Master's in Philosophy of Science. That combination — legal practice, scientific method, and the philosophy of how we know what we know — shapes everything I teach.
FactSmith Foundry grew out of a simple observation: the content landscape is enormous, fast-moving, and almost entirely unrigorous. Creators, journalists, researchers and communicators are producing and consuming information at scale, often without the frameworks that high-stakes professional environments take for granted.
I built this to change that.
The principles I teach are not academic theory. They are drawn from 20 years of real-world application — evaluating conflicting accounts, assessing source credibility, identifying where narratives override evidence, and ensuring that what is stated can be defended. These are skills I used every working day in environments where being wrong had serious consequences.
I also hold a private pilot's licence — another discipline where precision, procedural rigour and the ability to make clear decisions under uncertainty are simply non-negotiable.
FactSmith Foundry is for anyone who wants to create content, communicate ideas, or consume information with greater intelligence, integrity and confidence. Whether you work in media, academia, corporate communications or content creation — the frameworks here will change how you think.
